Superior room: dark, no views, old furniture, bathroom totally outdated, and when one took a shower, the water leaked the whole floor was fooded.

Noisy self service buffet goes on all night, with no separate area for a la carte ordering, which doesnt help to get the ambiance right for a nice relaxing dinner, specially since the restaurant is cold dark.

A place fitted out almost entirely to suit its art deco heritage could so easily have fallen into the tacky theme hotel hell but this has been done with loving care and attention to detail.

Our only possible gripe with this hotel was the pool area where there was a shortage of sun beds in the peak late afternoon period and where the quality of the water didn't appear quite as pristine as in the other hotel pools on our trip.

My biggest gripe was the fact that EVERY noise from the corridor could be heard in the room (screaming children, banging doors etc) and I had to resort to ear plugs, being a light sleeper.
