They have built a new wing which isn't as nice but if you like modern then that's the part to stay in.

I love old hotels, however if I stay in Saigon again I would opt for one of the modern behemoths like the Caravelle, the Sheraton or Park Hyatt.

Our son was very happy in the new wing and whilst the rooms lacked the high ceilings they were very well appointed and the bathrooms modern and clean.

The building's architecture stands it out on a street of mainly modern buildings and the lobby is terrific, giving a great first impression.

There is a great gym with modern machinery, but I was on holiday so skipped it  The pool area was modest, clean and tidy, wonderful to cool off after walking the streets in HCMC.

Some of the other similar priced hotels aren't as well located and tend to be very modern and corporate but the Majestic does seem to have its own timeless charm.
