Rooms were very ordinary, certainly not as luxurious as Expedia etc would have you believe.

Rooms are big and they also have an elaborate breakfast.

"Located in the heart of the city's tourist center, the Caravelle hotel poses as an elegant yet fun lodging - all with the security in the league of Fort Knox.

As I said at the beginning, there are no standards to the hotel star classification system but Expedia and Travelocity describes 5 Stars as being luxurious, highest comfort and superlative/flawless guest services.

We didn't have Christmas Day lunch at the Caravelle, but went across the street to the very ritzy and glam (whose rooms are vastly more expensive) Park Hyatt, who offered a sit-down, set menu at almost the same price as the Caravelle's buffet (which is good for breakfast, but hate for other meals).

I would say the hotel met our needs rather than being luxurious, it is more like a top end business hotel we thought.

Nothing luxurious about it at all.

We booked a premium deluxe room and the room was big with a love seat and 2 sofas with floor to ceiling windows that overlook the Opera House and Park Hyatt Hotel.
