    Laundry (despite a small load), was incredibly expensive.

    We arrived from Sa Pa via Lao Cai train at 5AM and were told our room was not available and asked to wait 8 hours or pay a half day's rate, despite mentioning as much when we booked (they ultimately let us go into the room without charging us).

    The only problem was the occasional power-out which seemed to be a problem at every hotel we stayed at in Vietnam and to varying degrees (except for a boat-hotel!
