The new Dubai Mall is a fantastic sight with an ice rink, a huge aquarium, fashion shows , musicians performing and a magnificent fountain diplay set to music (as at the Bellagio in Las Vegas).

The small shop in the lobby had a great selection of curios/souveneirs, and some of the things were actually cheaper than Deira City Centre etc.

This is clearly a business hotel and location - suggest that you stay along the beach if you are in town as a tourist - Madinat Souk is a very nice outdoor mall designed in Arabic style with many restaurants for dinner - not much shopping though - for shopping go to the Emirates Mall which is only a 5 minute cab ride away.

The main strengths of this Hotel I would suggest as follows: a) Great location, very near City Centre Mall, which has some great shopping and also Cinemas, Bowling etc nice for kids (and Adults) to get out of the blistering heat for a couple of hours.
