Getting to Chiang Mai is also easy. THe Chiang Mai International airport has flights from Bangkok and to other Thai cities, other than some Eastern and South-Eastern destinations. Buses and trains also serve Chiang Mai from Bangkok. You can take the tuk-tuks and songthaews while in the city.

Purchase a Bo Sang Umbrella, which
an important cultural icon for the people of Chiang Mai. There's even a festival that is held in the 3rd week of January, where contests, exhibitions, cultural performances and even a beauty pageant. The streets are decorated with umbrellas and lanterns at Ban Bo Sang, Sankampang.
The Kao Soi
, pronounced as cow-soy, is a Thai comfort food with tender chunks of chicken in curry sauce with coco milk. This is served over thin egg noodles with crispy fried egg noodles on top and garnishes.
So you make sure that you include in the your to-do list.
Finally, the Wat Phratat Doi Suthep that overlooks the Old City of Chiang Mai is simply breath taking. This mountain, Doi Suthep, has the most sacred tamples with a 300-stair climb to a large chedi and golden spire. The view on top of Doi Suthep is worth it and a must-see.
