The pastry cook and contractor Monsieur Marcel Laurent ran a continental style patisserie here for 33 years. In 1986 the building hosted a nightclub and in 1987 it became a hotel. At first, a bus company ran the hotel, and a few years later it became privately owned. In 1999, Elite Hotels of Sweden acquired the hotel and is now operating two hotels in Malmö, Elite Hotel Residens and the nearby Elite Hotel Savoy. It is located in central Malmö just opposite the Central Station and within walking distance of the city's cultural and entertainment offerings. The location is most convenient, close to trains, coaches and airport shuttles.
