The house was built in the 18th century and prior to the Second World War had been occupied by a variety of butchers, bakers, clockmakers, court clerks, surgeons, merchants and craftsmen. In about 1930 shops and artist-workshops were opened on the ground floor. Today some of the most well-known artists in Klaipeda (including painters, potters, amber craftsmen, and jewellers) have their workshops on the second floor and in buildings adjacent to the house.<br><br>The first floor of the house is newly renovated and has been converted into a cosy guest house with 10 double, 3 triple and 3 single rooms. The rooms are all spacious, carpeted and comfortably furnished. Some of the brick walls have been left unplastered in order to give an authentic reminder of the house's history. Most of the rooms have a private en-suite bathroom. Guests have their own keys and are free to come and go at any time.
