Guest Reviews of Quinta Da Bela Vista Hotel Funchal Based on a 1 (poor) to 5 (excellent) rating system

Everything is clean and in good order in both communal areas and the rooms, the air-con works well, the beds were comfy, the pool/ area is well kept, the WI-FI internet (in the main lounge) worked, the free shuttle bus from the hotel to the centre works out well during the day - but taxis are inexpensive and on time/early when booked.

The Quinta itself is really quite charming - great views, lovely gardens, old-school refinement in the communal areas etc, but you can probably see that from all the photos people have posted.

The A La Carte menu is served in a separate building within the grounds - make sure you book early as it's normally fully-subscribed, simply because the food, the service and the ambience are terrific.

Our bedroom, in the main part of the hotel, overlooked the stunning, immaculately designed, lush tropical gardens, the pool and, beyond, a panoramic, out-of-this-world view of the Funchal coastline and the Atlantic Ocean.

Although the hotel is a 10 minute drive from central Funchal, it is set on a hillside overlooking the city and the bay, and the view is breathtaking.

The food is first class (even the set menu - a choice of of fresh fish or meat every day), the restaurant staff are efficient (attentive without being intrusive) and the regular Maitre d’ charming.
