As a tall person, I appreciated the large comfortable bed and even though our room wasn’t new it was decorated in a classic , timeless manner.

The set 4 course dinner costs 40 euros per head, which if you add in a bottle of wine , makes for an expensive evening in.

It is beautifully situated un a large well-kept shady garden with a superb view over Funchal, and a heated swimming-pool.
