Worth every penny as the food, service and wine was fantastic, down the the barrel of single malt whisky I was seved at the end of my meal, but still too expensive for us for every night.

The food in the restaurant if you decide to pay extra is expensive but if you weigh it all up, costs of taxis down to the town and back, tips etc, you cannot beat the hotel resaurant for quality of food and it was good value.

There is a yacht accociated with the hotel which does 'sunset cruises' and other ventures, well worth the money (sunset cruise is around 22-28 Euro's) but as this is the Atlantic, you need a strong stomach (or good sea-sick tablets!

Pay the extra at least once here - it was well worth it for exquisite cuisine in magnificent surroundings.

We ate dinner at the hotel twice and it was good value, although Madeiran food generally is not to our liking as we find it a bit overcooked.
