    The hotel is 45 minutes walk from central Funchal, those who know Madeira will know that it isn't flat!

    We really enjoyed our stay at the Pestana - it is far enough from downtown that you really do relax, but close enough to walk to some great restaurants and shopping.

    First impressions were very good, the hotel is well appointed, location is a way out of Funchal but there are several shops and restaurants nearby, including a large shopping centre and a smaller one both with decent supermarkets.

    Shame, hotel is not walking distance into Funchal though, although there are plenty of eateries around the hotel to chose from.
