Dinner is poor value by the standards of the nearby city and is great if you're on a diet, but I was left starving (and I like nouvelle cuisine!

And in the evenings it was wonderful to sit in the beautiful rooms of the house, enjoying the open fires, the excellent collection of books, a relaxing tipple, a fantastic home-grown meal, only to finally retire into a comfortable double bed and look forward to enjoying the next day in the same way.

Each dinner setting is incredibly romantic with candles lit all over the court yard..

Later on the walk through the gardens to dinner was lovely, the way lit with many candles (although the walk back is dark as the candles have gone out) and dinner iteslf was superb, the setting, the food and the waiter service wonderful and exactly as you would expect.
