Just returned from 10 nights at the Datai and have only a few things to add to the glowing reviews already posted - In short if you are considering this spot then my guess is you want a bit of luxury whilst lazing by the pool/beach - In my opinion this is the best example of this kind I've experienced and would strongly recomend you go 1) Value - Spot on as far as I was concerned - We had lunch, drinks on the beach then usually 3 course meals with either Wine or Beer ( and maybe the odd cocktail!

Swimming Pools - the main pool up by the reception is gorgeous and doesn't get too deep.

The hotel's amenities are all top class with great swimming pools, a decent enough gym, excellent spa, and outstanding restaurants offering huge choice.

While there were not many other young families, there is plenty to keep them interested, especially as the nearby hotel - the Andaman - has a kids pool with a water slide if you want to change scenary a bit.

Oh and, should you tire of the electric blue, warm gentle sea, the swimming pool is a bit dull - but you can use the pool next door which belongs to the slightly cheaper sister hotel (which I believe is nearly as lovely but slightly more crowded and has not jungle suites).

The beach is also first rate and well maintained and the main pool is big enough to really swim in.
