The location we found was great with markets, restaurants etc outside your door (although once you are in CDM you would have no idea), the beach and views etc were perfect and staff, service amazing.

However the jugs of water have a very high processed taste to them and as the hotel only sells expensive french and italian water we had to regularly go to nearby shops to supplement the small bottles of complimentary water left in the rooms.

Right outside the doorstep of the CDM was loads of gorgeous little restaurants and boutique shops for perusing, and the one must do activity is to hire a scooter and scoot around the island for a day.
