up the road, you will find the oriental village, with many gift shops and restaurants.

It was also a fair way away from the main shops and a long taxi ride was needed, although there was a place called the harbour that had some nice views and nice restaurants, although you do pay over the odds and prices are comparable to the hotel, but it is somewhere different to experience if you fancy a change.

Just a note for the ladies, there is NO shopping inLangkawi, only cheap trinkets and duty free chocolates.

The resort is pretty remote, but there are a few unmissable things in walking distance, like the Oriental Village (a great village-style shopping complex, which is also where the cable car departure point is) which is 10 minutes stroll.

You can also stop into Zen convenience store to pick up some goods for your stay - say hello to Duty Free alcohol and cigarettes (we dont smoke but $20AUD for a carton of Dunhill - we simply had to pick some up for our friends back home).
