    The location was pretty decent as we took taxis often from either the train station or the Gion area and it was never more than 800 Yen or so (depending on the starting fare w/the taxi as they weren't always the same).

    It's within a walking distance from main shopping area and Kyoto Station area, but it's a bit of a walk.

    I noticed lots of tour groups here-- the location is fine for groups with their own transport.

    The hotel is huge, the room Ok and staff good enough, however the location is terrible, on a busy main road a long way from the sites and above all there are absolutely no restaurants in the area.

    The location is also excellent, right next to a big temple complex which was partly under construction during our visit.
