    Okura is in central Kyoto, walking distance to the covered Kawaramachi shopping district, the historic Gion district, Pontocho nightlife district, and a bike's ride away from most famous shrines and museums.

    The underground is adjacent which will bring you to the famed UNESCO sites, let me warn you however that this city is stiflingly hot in the summer months.

    For getting around to the rest of the famous sights in the city, I would highly recommend purchasing the very reasonably priced multi-day city pass that covers transportation on the subways and the city buses.
