The staff were helpful, the food good, but it was the accomodation (make sure you get a beachfront chalet - worth the extra) that made it (once we switched to a room with a double rather than twin beds).

We stayed at Octopus 1-2 and the location of the chalet is splendid overlooking the sea and my mum and kids enjoyed it very much.

The staff were excellent and the chef always came out to see if there was anything else he could do for our meals.

The water seemed very clean - amazing for the Malacca Straits - and though there was a 'watch out for jellyfish' notice we certainly never saw one!

The staff were extremely helpful and very welcoming; the buffet breakfasts in the Spice Restaurant were excellent, and in general its food was so good that we hardly began to explore the other restaurants in the overall Nirwana Gardens complex ourselves (though fellow guests gave us a good report of the Thai restaurant).

Overall, one of the best hotel stays we've had, and we certainly hope to make the short hop across from Singapore again.
