The first night we were in a deluxe room we had booked online (the deluxe and claridges room were listed at the same rate), and the second night we had planned to switch to the Ginger to save money but didn't feel safe (we were a group of 3 20-something women) so returned to the Claridges in a Claridges room.

There is no metro nearby so you will have to take cabs to get around and the cab drivers tend to overprice knowing you are a foreigner.

My room was in urgent need of renovation, one chair was wobbly and even dangerous to sit on, the bathroom was just shabby for a five star hotel.

On my second stay i asked for a room (after the first stay had a lousy room) with a view but they put me in one (236) where the glass is covered in a film so you can't look out at all as it looks out over some equipment !!
