There are some great restaurants/shops on Friedrichstrasse but what amazed me was how quiet this famous street can be at 7pm, one would think you are in some forgotten city.

We were also pleased to find that the hotel was adjacent to the Gendarmenmarkt and not far from the Opernpalais and Alexanderplatz, since all three locations hosted lovely Christmas markets.

(Altough personally I prefer the rooms to the inside courtyards - soooo quiet you can sleep with your window open which is a huge benefit for me) Walking out the door you are right in the city, shopping is excellent in the area - and if you are not a walker the hotel entrance is also the central Berlin subway station - amazing!

There is a handy little gift shop in one corner of the lobby where one can buy snacks and drinks for the room if you are mini-bar shy like me.

All the museum are within short walking distance, public transportation in front of the hotel (also the busstop for the direct bus to airport Tegel is nearby), nice shops around the corner and good restaurants nearby.
